Sandplace
to Looe
by
way of the West Looe Valley approximately 7 miles (11km)
An easy combination of road, farm and woodland tracks. A chance to spot an abundance of wildlife from grey squirrels, pheasants and buzzards, to kingfishers, cormorants and egrets.
Sandplace
to Tredinnick
From Sandplace station turn left. From here you have 2 options: a) cross the
rail bridge and follow the main road up until a road joins it from the left,
sign posted ‘Treworgey’. Go left here. b) do not cross the rail
bridge, instead go right down the minor road which will cross over the rails
and lead you up a fairly steep climb to meet the main road. Cross the road,
bearing right a few paces then go left and follow the road sign posted ‘Treworgy’.
Continue along this road to the Farm buildings and cottages, but before the
road dips down, go right up a wide concrete path between cottages. Follow
the track up and go left at the top, passing a couple
of houses. Once you
emerge onto the road, go right, then left to Tredinnick farm.
To
Sowden’s Bridge and Looe
Follow the road past the house on your right and large outbuilding on the
left. Turn left the farm track (beware, it can get very muddy here!). At the next junction, take the right fork. At the bottom of the valley, you
will see a stile and footbridge, but do not cross it. Instead go left and
follow the way-marked trail all the way to Sowden’s Bridge. Go right,
crossing over the bridge, then left and keep left at the next two junctions. At Watergate turn left to find an information board. The board illustrates
a choice of routes back to Looe – you decide. Cross the road bridge
and go left for Looe railway station.
