Looe
to Talland Bay circular
Approximately
7 miles (11km)
A diverse walk encompassing a network of woodland, road, farmland, coastal and village paths. Medium difficulty. Look out for the kingfisher near Watergate.
Exit Looe rail station turning right in the direction of the town centre, right again across the main road bridge leading to West Looe/Polperro. Turn right again to pass by some souvenir shops and an arcade and follow the road down and left to the end of the car park, keeping the river to your right.
To
Trencreek.
At the entrance to Kilminorth Woods an information board displays a number
of footpath options through the woods to Watergate – take your pick.
At Watergate leave the footpath and walk left along the main road. Continue
winding up through Kilminorth where the road takes a 90°
left turn and
a narrow track leads straight ahead. Continue left up the main road. Follow
this road until you meet the main Polperro road (A387) at Parker’s Cross.
Take care crossing the road and continue straight ahead past Waylands Farm
until you come to the caravan site at Trencreek.
To
Talland Bay and back to Looe
Cross over
the stile and follow the waymarked signposts through the caravan site, and
2 fields, keeping the hedge to your right and down into Talland. Follow the
main road to the right, through Talland leading down to the bay. The Smugglers
Restaurant and Talland Beach Café provides welcome refreshments (not
open all year round).
At the car park head left up the coastal path. Follow this well-worn route
all the way back to West Looe. Cross the main road bridge over the river to
East Looe, turning left once over the bridge, returning to Looe station.
